Description

James Patterson unfolds the story of the murder of the greatest personality in the history of music with the power of a true crime plot.

In the summer of 1980, a decade after the breakup of the Beatles, John Lennon had signed with a new record label. He was ready to experiment with music and for the first time in years to release a new album. With one of his best songs, "Imagine," he had already proven that he could stand alone at the top and was preparing to return there again.

A dangerous and obsessive fan

From the day John Lennon left the Beatles and pursued a solo career and a life with Yoko Ono in New York, Mark David Chapman was preparing to murder his hero. He was convinced that Lennon had wasted his talent and misled his fans with his messages of hope and peace. In December 1980, Chapman boarded a flight from Hawaii and went to New York with a gun in his luggage. He never returned home again.
