  First of all, I want to thank the friends in the following reviews for the information on the synchronization I did and was successful through the radio watch sync application as after 00:00 it started but could not pick it up, it must be enough time in L3 to accept it now for the clock it was good they did it perfectly really worth buying it I say from my experience I have over 25 models as a fan of casio for 30 years the only thing I will point out is that the strap is not for very large wrists it fits me in the third position from the end those with very large wrist better to try it before buying it.....

  My 3rd G-shock in a row and I wouldn't say I am satisfied with their reliability. In one, when it was time to change the battery, after 4 years of operation (no, I didn't leave it without a battery, as soon as I saw the LCDs fading and losing their intensity, I went immediately) my technician told me that the battery leaked at some point and damaged the circuit board. I threw it away.
  The other G-shock I had, which was from the expensive tough solar series with barometric pressure and altimeter, I bought it so I would never have to change the battery! €350 please! The screen turned black from the center outwards, just like that. Out of warranty. Again, after about 4 years of operation. My technician told me it needs a screen replacement and it would be very expensive so there was no reason to fix it.
  Unfortunately, due to work, I had to get a new watch. The damn G-shocks were the only option due to work and wear. I read the reviews and ended up with this one. Minimal design with a retro 80s look. Finally, I wouldn't have the classic round lump that Casio has accustomed us to for the past 25 years. The watch is neither small nor large. Medium size for a normal male wrist, 70 kg, 1.73 m tall. Discreet, readable, simple, light, good quality rubber with the option to buy genuine accessories such as a NATO fabric strap and the genuine protective steel bar which I bought directly from the dealership for €20. I believe the steel bar upgrades its appearance significantly. You can see it in the photos.
  Whether I made a good purchase will be shown in the future. Anyway, it looks quality and you don't even notice it on your wrist.

  6/16/24: This particular watch has a setting to automatically find the world time through global transmitters. Although Greece is not entirely within this range (it is up to the mainland) it catches the signal once a day and flashes. I have noticed it at night from 00:00 to 04:00. When I see it flashing, and happen to be awake, I take it out on the balcony for about ten minutes and it finds the signal, displaying this characteristic indication. It adjusts the time just fine. Of course, you can also choose not to have the automatic time option and set it manually.
  As for the overall image of the watch, after about a month I am completely satisfied. Light, readable, and not so necessary. The size as well as the most important thing is very light. You don't even realize you're wearing it.

  Owner of the previous model of DW5600, I can only confirm for this model my excellent impressions. Personally, I believe that these two models of Casio are the only classic Gshock models that have the iconic design of the first Gshock from 1983. In relation to the simpler but cheaper DW5600, the DW5610U has solar charging, automatic time synchronization, world time, 5 alarms, and automatic screen illumination. Here we have a different type and color of illumination, not the uniform and very beautiful green turquoise illumination of the DW5600, but a white blue LED illumination. The reason for this change is that due to the automatic illumination and therefore more intense use, this type of illumination is more durable. Besides these extra functions, the 5610 also has the classic functions of the DW5600, stopwatch, and countdown timer. Also, the date can be set in the European format day/month. Now let's go into detail about the two most basic differences, the solar charging and the automatic time synchronization. So this watch operates with a rechargeable battery crt1616, and it applies to all solar watches, it must constantly see the light so that the indication always remains on H (high). It is not advisable to leave it in the dark or in drawers to avoid battery discharge. The complete discharge of these batteries reduces their life expectancy, so keep the watch always in the light, and it is good to have the Power Save setting activated, which has a sensor and turns off the screen in the dark, which is activated automatically as soon as it detects motion or light is pressed. Now let's move on to the function with automatic time synchronization, the watch is multiband, which means that it can synchronize with all atomic time antennas on the planet. In Europe, the antenna that interests us is in Germany, its signal reaches the limit of Greece, so some "tricks" are needed for correct synchronization. First of all, all atomic watches start receiving the signal after midnight until dawn, the watch must be outdoors or near a window with a western direction, the signal receiver in the concentrated model is at the 9 o'clock position. It also helps a lot to put it on something metallic, I put it on the railing of the tent and in the morning I found it synchronized. If you can't make it, you can download an application on your mobile called radio watch sync, which mimics the synchronization signal and manually synchronize it. It is very important in the first setting you make to have selected the correct time zone (ATH for Greece). The dimensions are almost the same as the 5600, which I would characterize as ideal, personally I do not like at all the oversized Gshock watches the size of a plate. In a few words, the 5610u is a Gshock of modern technology but at the same time follows the classic design of the first classic Gshock of 1983, and it is a watch that is worth every penny

  A step up in features from the DW-5600E, which operates on a battery and not like this one, i.e. with a rechargeable battery (solar). A refreshed and more modern version of the iconic G-Shock from 1983, from which it all started, back in the romantic 80s. This was the main reason why I got this watch. Authentic retro, square and minimalist, it smells... like the 80s! A daily watch, a faithful companion everywhere. Elegant, not small, not big. Durable everywhere, truly waterproof. Its main function is what expensive mechanical watches cannot do: to accurately display the time. You simply wear it and don't bother with it, except when you look at how beautiful it is and how clear its display is. (Personally, I would prefer the outline of the screen to be white instead of red, but that's my aesthetic opinion). It charges its battery when exposed to light and (supposedly) adjusts the time on its own. Unfortunately, the "5610U" version, apart from improvements in functionality compared to the previous "5610" version, also brought a different backlight: Instead of the wonderful turquoise electro luminescence uniform screen illumination of the previous version, we have a side LED that, although it illuminates well, is not as beautiful. Conclusion: The most value for money watch you will find, no matter how much you search. Absolutely faithful to the original G-Shock philosophy: durable, lightweight, affordable, and with a battery that will live... as long as the watch. If you don't know what G-Shock is or if you have other watches, get it. (Especially if you are over 40, it suits you, an original G-Shock).

  My first Casio G shock watch and the experience for the few days that I wear it is very good, it is a tool that doesn't get scratched and the work I do is demanding, a simple watch gets scratched easily. It automatically synchronizes itself every night, today at 5 in the morning and the day before yesterday at 1:04, without taking it off my wrist or placing it in a specific position by the window.   This is a G-Shock, which initially means that we have a watch made to have great durability. It is not affected by falls, impacts, or contact with water. Because in terms of appearance we are not dealing with a large-sized eye-catching watch, it can be worn in various occasions, either in heavy work, at sea, or of course, on a night out. This is because its square style remains timeless after so many decades.
  The display with the time and other information is quite clear. One positive aspect of this particular model compared to many other Casio watches, as well as the older version of this one, is the display of the date in the format we use in Europe (dd/mm). The screen's illumination can be selected to automatically activate when it detects darkness, with the rotation of the wrist and the duration being set at 1.5 or 3 seconds.
  The two most important features of the watch, besides its durability, are the solar charging and the automatic time synchronization. In the first part, when I received the watch, the battery indicator was in the middle. However, after about fifteen minutes of leaving it in a spot where it was exposed to sunlight, the indicator reached its highest level (the watch has three indicators: Low-Medium-High). In the following days, wearing it constantly, with the automatic illumination set to the maximum duration and generally observing it, it dropped to the middle once, but again, after a few minutes in the sun, it immediately returned. Since then, it has remained on high constantly.
  The time synchronization is a bit of a special case since we are on the edge of the radio signal range in Greece. So, the truth is that at first it did not synchronize at all. That's why I downloaded an application for my phone and the synchronization happened immediately. However, after a few days, the watch synchronized on its own and since then, every few days, without me doing anything, it manages to synchronize (meaning I don't leave it near a window looking in a certain direction). However, this doesn't mean that even if it doesn't synchronize often, it loses seconds.
  Overall, until Casio releases a square G-Shock with tough solar, automatic synchronization, and MIP display, without it being a smartwatch, this particular model is the best option for anyone who wants to own a watch from this famous series of watches.

  - The LED backlight is very nice in my opinion (see photo and judge for yourself).
  - I will let you know about its waterproofness in the summer with an update.
  - Durability is like all G-Shock watches.
  - Radio reception: It is worn on the wrist every night and almost always receives the signal. There are 5 attempts every night (first attempt at 00:02 and then every hour until 05:02). The bedroom window faces North-Northwest. So, for fun, I easily synchronized it with the Android app Clock Wave Sync at noon (photo). It synchronizes with the time of the mobile phone, which is about 1 second behind the wave time.
  - In my opinion, the above changes compared to the regular version justify the €120 price tag as of March 2023.
  - The only drawback of all G-Shock watches: slightly lower volume for the alarm, hourly signal, etc.
  - Possible drawback: in comments on YouTube, it has been mentioned that the time cannot be read clearly when not looking directly at the screen. I did not notice this issue.

  I believe it is worth its price and I enjoy it every day.

  The iconic square G-Shock from Casio is in my opinion the best.   If you are tired of smartwatches and want a tool watch that you will forget to charge, adjust, and change the battery, you are in the right product. It is solar-powered with a huge battery life, closed in a drawer for over a year, and automatically adjusts the time through a radio receiver. It charges from any light source and automatically synchronizes the time and date with great accuracy every early morning, 2 to 3 times in Athens but next to a window for the watch's built-in antenna to catch the radio signal emitted from Frankfurt, Germany.   I have been searching for a watch for a long time until I saw this one, in my opinion, it is exactly how a watch for outdoor activities and everyday use should be, why not even for a walk. Durable, waterproof, automatic or manual time synchronization, solar charging, world time, lightweight... what else can you ask for from a watch. If someone is involved in outdoor activities, this watch is for you. Time synchronization from radio transmitters works better during the night or very early in the morning.

  Because I was tired of the GA-100-1AER with its hands and negative display, I wanted to switch to a purely digital watch without a negative display. I chose the 5610u instead of the cheaper and older 5610 because of its ability to adjust the automatic illumination time (1.5" and 3") and because it can display the date in the format dd.mm (day.month) and not just the "American" mm.dd. However, what disappointed me at first was the automatic synchronization because I couldn't get it to work, and although it's not absolutely necessary since the watch is very accurate, I wanted it to work. And for this function, I paid 132 euros, not just to show me the time. It's a bit of a difficult process, you have to search until you find the spot in your house where it automatically adjusts at night, but also a spot for manual synchronization. I did tests, read a lot on the internet (someone in the bathroom, someone by the window, someone on the balcony, someone in their hand, etc.) and various "tricks" (e.g. attaching it to a metal bar https://youtu.be/wI4FwQMCN9w). Most of them didn't work for me. Finally, I discovered a spot on the nightstand next to my bed, not even next to a window, with the watch placed upright (not on its side) that automatically synchronizes at 5:02 (meaning on the 5th attempt, as the automatic synchronization attempts occur every hour from 1 to 5 every night), but also manually, but always after 10-11 pm at night! It will never synchronize the date, don't bother trying for nothing! There are also applications for Android and iOS with which manual synchronization can be done (for Android, there are DCF77 emulator and Radio watch sync. The second one works for me. For iOS, there is Clock Wave).

  Regarding the charging, I've had it for 10 days and it hasn't dropped below H. Theoretically, it charges constantly as it can charge from any light source it's exposed to, even lamps, but it gets the most energy when it's hit by the sun.

  I haven't tested it in difficult conditions (e.g. dust, mud, impacts, etc.), anyway my daily life doesn't involve such activities. It has only been exposed to showers and hand washing. However, I imagine there won't be a problem since it's a G-shock, and no one has mentioned the slightest durability issue. I'll let you know about swimming in the sea in the summer :)

  The automatic illumination is satisfactory, it works by turning the wrist 9/10 times (sometimes it needs another attempt).

  I give it 4 stars instead of 5 just because of the issue with automatic synchronization. I'll update if I find any issues.

  Update 1 (7/2/21): I have managed manual synchronization at 12:15 noon, but on a rooftop with an open horizon to the north and a clear sky. Generally, weather conditions (cloud cover) seem to play a role in synchronization, affecting it negatively. It has been almost 3 months, and the charge has never dropped below H, without using it much of course and without any regular charging. Only twice during this period, I left it in the sun for about 3 hours.
