Description
In 1985, nineteen-year-old Frank Mackey and his girlfriend, Rosie Daly, devise a secret plan to elope and go to England to start their lives there, away from their troubled families. However, Rosie does not show up at their meeting place, and Frank assumes she simply decided to run away on her own. For twenty-two years, Frank, who becomes an undercover cop, avoids returning to their old neighborhood in Dublin, the Place of the Faithful. Until one day, his younger sister, Jackie, informs him that Rosie's suitcase has been found in an abandoned house. Frank reluctantly visits the place, and then everything is turned upside down: Did Rosie not leave on her own, without him, but was someone preventing her from going to their meeting?
The success of Irish author Tana French's books is not only certified by the awards or the rave reviews she receives but also by their adaptation to the screen. The protagonists in the novels of the series are not the same each time, but they belong to the same unit. As critics have pointed out, Tana French's books stand out not only because of the plot or the resolution of the mystery but thanks to her narrative prowess. Specifically, in the Place of the Faithful, there is no serial killer or huge revelation, but her charming hero, his chaotic family, and the atmospheric Dublin captivate the reader.

The first book of French that I read and I have to say that it is one of the best detective novels I have ever read. I really liked her writing as the book kept my interest from beginning to end. I am going for her next book!
