Description

"What is love? This word has come to mean so many things, it is so distorted, that I use it with a heavy heart. Everyone talks about love - every magazine and every newspaper and every missionary talks endlessly about love. I love my country, I love my king, I love a book, I love God. Is love an idea? If it is, it can be cultivated, nurtured, fed, eaten and behaved, distorted in any way you want. When you say you love God: what does it mean? It means that you love a projection of yourself dressed in a certain form of propriety, according to what you think is superior and sacred; so saying "I love God" is utter foolishness. When you worship God, you worship yourself - and that is not love. Because we cannot achieve this human thing called love, we escape into abstract ideas and concepts. Love may ultimately be the solution to all the difficulties of man, all his problems and sorrows. So, how do we discover what love is?"

Explicit statement by Krishnamurti before his death in 1986:
"There is no successor or representative of mine who will continue the teaching now or at any time in the future, in my name... Interpreters are not needed... Each person must directly observe his own activities and not through some theory or authority..."
