Description

The lifeless body of Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias was destined to remain unburied for a full 20 days. In 1852, the authorities beheaded the dead (!) murderer, Minister of Education Nikolaos Korfiotakis. A gambling club regular slaughters Prime Minister Theodoros Deligiannis on the steps of Parliament. The ear and palm of the ragged assailant who fatally wounded King George I are preserved in... a museum in Athens! The assassins of Sifis Vardinogiannis were disguised as German military police. Christos Ladas breathed his last after a grenade was thrown into the ministerial limousine, while MP Grigoris Lambrakis received fatal blows in front of 180 gendarmes.

20 + 1 political assassinations that shook and marked Greece!

Oxy Publications presents the thorough work of award-winning journalist Georgios Sarris, Political Assassinations in Greece! Crimes that aimed to change the world – and in some cases, they succeeded.

The reader is confronted with the history of politically motivated violence, reading documented and comprehensively all the details of the most significant assassinations from the founding of the Greek state to the present day. At the same time, having only a few years passed since the most recent of the assassinations, it is easily understood that the era of politically motivated crimes is far from over.

Very well-written, enjoyable to read. You learn many unknown historical details, such as, for example, that the body of Kapodistrias was left unburied for 20 days in Nafplio or that the severed ear of King George's assassin is still preserved to this day!
Each chapter is about a political assassination.
I highly recommend it because it has the advantage of being able to read it if you want a chapter, leave it, and pick it up later whenever you have time.
