The episodic narrative of events that runs through the novel starts from the early 1970s and moves backward to the early 20th century - in the suffocating environment of mountainous Cyprus, but also in the archaeological excavations of the Swedes on the mountain during the British rule. From London to New York and from Tillyria to Falun in Sweden, the novel listens to the most intimate whispers of existence - the second voices that parasitize beneath the first - to narrate the turbulent history of the place, but also the recurring story of the heart being uprooted from the chest. The only constant in the flow of time that runs through the book is the mountain itself as it dominates over land and sea.
