Hello! I have had this particular hard disk for about a year now. Since I saw comments like "it's not fast," I want to clarify something important: this disk is MECHANICAL, so it's logical that it's not as fast as an SSD. As for its reliability, many people say it's a workhorse, and I agree. Generally, I have had bad experiences with hard disks, and this is one of the few cases where it lived up to my expectations. I push my disks hard and have high demands, which ultimately is their job to write and delete, and that's why they're built. To be clearer and more objective, I am attaching a screenshot and want you to focus on the disk's capacity and then on the Write-Read. Generally, the more "empty" a mechanical disk is, the better it works in the Write-Read area, and I mention this because when the disk was 50% full, it had about +20 to 30mb/s in Write-Read. In conclusion, I will say that the disk has been formatted once and the partitions have been changed from GPT to MBR due to a virus. I hope I helped those who are hesitant about buying this disk!
I bought it and while it was working fine at first, after one month it started slowing down until it completely broke. HDSentinel shows it has 3% life left. WD covers the shipping costs for replacement under warranty, resulting in a deduction of -40€.
P.S. I only used one HDD and as you can understand, it was defective. I'm not saying that every disk will be defective, but I have to mention my case.
From the first day it has a problem making a clicking sound so I browse through folders. Also in some folders that I entered normally suddenly it gives me a message access is not allowed
The product is fine because I have bought it before, but this time it fell along with the recorder and stopped working. I didn't bother taking it to the store for warranty because it was my fault.
I have it for 1 year, very reliable hard drive for storage without any problems. Western Digital is a must for hard drives.
The disk is not silent, I expected it to be quieter than an old Seagate 500GB (also 7200 rpm) that I had, but it is more powerful! At the same price, it has a 1TB SSD, I should have gone there.
This morning I received 6 pieces of this 1GB capacity disk. I want them for storage only. I put the first disk on and start copying files from another disk I already have. It copies for a few seconds and then the copying freezes, gradually freezing the entire PC. I try again and again, restart after restart, same thing. I remove my own disk and put in another one that I had. Same thing. I try every possible combination of disks and always the same, no matter which disk I copied files from, it would freeze after a few seconds.
I disconnect the disk and put in the 2nd one out of the 6 that I bought. Exactly the same.
I try the 3rd one, same thing.
I should note that I often connect storage disks to my computer and I have never had a problem. I can still copy files normally with my old disks.
The problem starts as soon as I connect one of these WD Blue disks. I will probably call on Monday to return all of them because they are useless and completely unreliable.
Ok, there's not much to say. The classic cheap WD, I use it quite often as a store, although I prefer Toshiba and Hitachi drives in terms of reliability. It has proven to be quite durable over time and that is important, as nowadays you only get an HDD for backup or an extra disk for "useless" files (movies, music, etc.), which means you want it to be in good condition for several years!
After 8 years of trouble-free use, I would trust this series of disks again.
However, these speeds are not suitable for 2023 anymore. For disks up to 2tb, I would go for an SSD, and for anything larger, I would choose a 7200 HDD with the largest possible cache.
For the old fans of WD, like myself, I have to tell you that WD is no longer what it used to be. Specifically, 2 Blue ones broke down on me within 5 months of purchase for the first one and 3 for the second one. WD has let us down in terms of reliability, especially with the Blue series. If you look at reviews for the HDD design, you will understand and you won't buy WD again until they change their approach.
I have a 1tb 6 of 2 years, and everything is okay. Now I got the 2tb and as expected, with a test, it's not empty. You fool yourself, but with 30% on 64gb, I got these results and with temperatures of 30 max 31. Yesterday's purchase of 2tb is not audible, it's calm for now!
Unfortunately, I trusted him, stored my data and within 4 business days it crashed and I lost everything.
Okay, there's no need for anyone to say anything. I've been using WD drives for storage on my desktop for over 10 years now and they've never disappointed me.

I have had it here for about a month now for games and heavy files and so far it has not shown any issues, it works perfectly.
Very good. I still have one (1gb) and it performs the same after many years. I highly recommend it.
For the little I've used it, I have to say only the best... simply fast, quiet and so far extremely reliable... for its price, it's an ideal solution...
I have had a blue 1TB for many years. It might be over 10. For 6-7 years it was the main disk running Windows and programs. At some point I got an SSD for the main disk and since then I have been using it for storage. After all these years its health is at 100% and the maximum temperature it has ever reached is 42°C. It's really a workhorse as other commentators have noted.
I bought the 2TB. Very good speed, good cache memory. It is used for file storage. I edit 1080p and 4K videos directly from the disk and it doesn't lag at all in the preview, so it's okay for me. I never had a problem with HDDs from any company, especially in terms of file loss. Obviously, others are doing something wrong, as it is rare to reach the point of losing files.
One of the best (if not the best) HDDs on the market, with perfect speeds (without formatting for a year now), no noise, and no increase in temperature. It's definitely worth the money.
Quiet, fast for an HDD, and judging by my previous WD blue, which was also immortal, it's definitely worth the full price. Personally, I use it as a third hard drive mainly for file storage and programs without high speed requirements. Very good build quality and low price, win-win.
I bought a 2TB drive for about 50 euros. It's being used as a secondary disk. It's definitely cheap for its capacity, but not suitable for demanding applications/games. Maybe I got a faulty piece.
I have had it for years and it has never caused me any problems. I used to have another one that ran smoothly and the software was great.
For around 30 euros, it's a very good disk. I installed it on my PC as the main disk (for games, photos, videos, and other stuff) and kept the SSD that was already in my PC for Windows only (to make them open faster). It's relatively fast, but mainly worth it for the one terabyte of storage.
Quite good at what it offers, fast even when it's 70% full and doesn't overheat much, which is important. I've been using it as a storage and have bought 3 so far! Referring to the 1 terabyte one.
I cloned my old IDE 5400rpm with 30GB free space and Windows 7 (it was frustrating with a LGA775-Socket dual-core processor) onto a 1TB SATA III 7200rpm 64MB (upgraded to Windows 7 and programs, and changed to a LGA775-Socket Q8200 quad-core processor). The speed difference was significant due to the different technology and computer. Time will tell about reliability and durability. It was an excellent quality-price ratio (at 30 euros).
The computer broke down before the semester ended, it won't boot even if I have it as a secondary disk, it's trying to perform a detailed check, which takes days to finish. I tried it on 4 different machines (all Windows 10) and the behavior is exactly the same. For months now, I have left it out of the machine and only use the primary (SSD) disk. I will see if I can send it for replacement (I am within 10 months of purchase).
NOISE:
Okay, there is noise, it's not as quiet as I expected. The noise is due to the rotational movement of the disks and how much it transfers to the case. I tried tightening or loosening it, but it didn't work. To solve the problem, I used rubber bases. Unfortunately, it's an issue with the HDD itself and not the slot or the case, as it is next to a Seagate (ST500DM002-1BC142) and an older WD (WDC WD1002FBYS-02A6B0) that are much gentler in transferring vibrations outward. To give you an idea of what I hear, sometimes there is a buzzing sound which is relatively annoying, and the volume is slightly higher than that of a fan.
SPEED:
The HDD is connected via SATA3 with a SATA3 cable. The link speed is 600MB/s while the hard drives are supposed to reach ~200MB/s. I provide images and my system for those who are interested. The first screen shows the theoretical values, and the second one shows a more real-world scenario. Benchmarked with CrystalMark 64bit.

I installed it on my PC 5 days ago as a second disk and it's really fast. So far, I've added some files, a Windows backup, and two games. If you need something fast for installing an operating system, go for a sad or even better an nvme, but for movies and files, it's great for the 30€ I got it for. Get it with your eyes closed.
Is 2TB of reasonably fast storage (for an HDD) for such a cheap price? Absolutely! In 2022, you don't want it as a boot drive, but for all kinds of data and 99.9% of games, if you don't mind loading screens (except for something like MS Flight Simulator), it's great, at least +70% faster than a stock HDD on PS4 and Xbox One.
Edit: Many say it's not useful, what exactly do you disagree with? If the issue is the console hard drives, they are 2.5" and 5400rpm, so what I'm saying is true.
What can I say, man. I bought it thinking it would save me, but I can't even format it. I managed to put a few things in it, but it was very slow. I have nothing good to say about it.
I was torn between the 1TB and the 2TB! I ended up getting the 2TB because it had a larger cache memory and was only about 15€ more expensive than the 1TB.
Within the first 2 months, it started producing errors and I had to send it to a data recovery company to retrieve my data.
