I have a German Shepherd, the machine is not suitable for dogs with double coat and coarse hair. It doesn't cut and gets clogged. It cuts fine on a setter. I bought it because the description said it is suitable for dogs with double coat, but it's not at all!
Where to start, our dog is a shitzu, the machine is the worst thing ever, it doesn't cut, it makes noise and chews the hair. I really threw away 75.00€, I bought it because even on the packaging it has a photo of my dog.. I don't really know if anyone else has bought it.. IT IS THE WORST THING THAT EXISTS. I also sent a letter to the headquarters abroad but.. I never received a response
My dog is a mix of a poodle and a Maltese. It has thick fur. I always bathe and groom it before trimming. The machine cut the first 5-6 times or so. After that, nothing! I always maintain and oil it as instructed. I played with the adjustment on the sides as mentioned, nothing. I recently changed the blades (+25 euros), nothing. I don't understand why it was cutting at the beginning and now it's not. It's like it doesn't have power. 105 euros that I wasted in total with the replacement blades for such a potato is way too much. Stay away. I will save money to buy a professional one to have peace of mind.
I use it on a wire fox terrier, which for those who don't know, has relatively hard and dense fur. The machine was okay for the first 2-4 trims, but that's without using guards. The blades directly on the fur. So far so good. However, even though I regularly applied the oils, the machine clearly got clogged and I struggle to cut even the smallest amount. Not to mention using guards, where it feels like the machine is completely closed off. I acknowledge that my dog's fur is somewhat difficult, but the performance of the machine in relation to its price and brand name is at least disappointing.
When it comes to getting something for your little friend, it's better not to skimp on spending an extra 30-40 euros to get a good machine. I did a week of market research and watched reviews on YouTube to end up with this one! My other option was about 200 euros for a super professional one, but it wasn't within my budget.
I've had it for 2 months now, today we did our second haircut. The machine is well-made, it doesn't heat up, the blade didn't get hot, and it doesn't make excessive noise to scare our little dog. It doesn't have a battery, it plugs directly into the power outlet, and the attachments are of good quality.
The machine was used on a large breed animal with short and dense fur.
