Description

"Frank, the only son of a prominent military officer, a sensitive and cheerful child, ends up in an extremely delinquent life that leads to his death sentence by the courts of Arizona. His life in prison is very harsh despite his efforts to have his sentence reviewed, while he studies from his cell.
Rachel, a young athlete who is sidelined after an accident and watches Frank's trial on television, decides to visit him in prison to help save his soul. Around them, a dystopian, cold, and condemning society leaves no hope of salvation for a man like Frank. Fortunately, there are exceptions. Some people, a few, stand by them.
When all seems lost, Frank discovers, from his cell, an Orthodox archbishop from the distant island of Cyprus, Metropolitan of Limassol, with whom he corresponds. This brings him into contact with the monastery of Elder Ephraim in the desert of Arizona. Since then, the abbot of the monastery regularly visits the convict and helps him follow the life of an enclosed ascetic, while also baptizing him and giving him the name Anthony. But it is not only Frank who changes; Rachel, coming to save, is saved herself and ends up being baptized and receiving the name Sarah. Subsequently, her kind father also becomes a member of the Church of Christ, which embraces all its children with paternal love.
Anthony and Sarah continue their struggle until the day when Fr. Epiphanius, abbot of the Holy Monastery of Machairas, visits them and asks them to write their autobiography. A painful and redemptive process that will last almost ten years begins.
Meanwhile, in the state of Arizona, death penalties, after several years of silent cessation, resume. Is Frank worth executing?"
The two shocking parallel autobiographies make this book bring to life in the 21st century the couple of heroes from Fyodor Dostoevsky's famous book "Crime and Punishment." Through its pages, the dramatic forms that the struggle with the spirit of evil takes in the modern civilized world are revealed, as well as the help that every person receives to overcome and come into the Light. It is certainly a significant contribution to the issues of criminality, correction, and even marriage.
