First of all, I give 4.5+ stars (without knowing why I don't give a straight 5, which is obvious) that I round up to 5.
I had heard them a long time ago in a well-known large department store next to some others, which those who have bought them consider them excellent (I won't say which ones), the listening conditions were not the best and the listening was a bit rushed, but when I listened to the other speakers, I heard a somewhat claustrophobic, bass-heavy sound, and when I went back to the kef, suddenly it was like a curtain had been lifted, not just a curtain but a blanket between me and the music, and I stopped paying attention to the other speakers, no matter what they were.
The sound brightened and opened up, gained color and melody. The speakers truly sang. It was a different feeling.
So, when I recently saw them in this department store, placed somewhere, after years of being on display, at a price of 260 euros, I couldn't resist and bought them, hoping that no damage had been caused during all that time they were exposed.
After listening to them again, at my home this time, I tried to find reviews and, yes, they were considered excellent, with ratings of 4.5 or 5 stars, so I felt like I didn't hear anything wrong.
One of the reviews said that they are not suitable for large rooms and high volumes - but searching again, I wonder where I read that - and for some other not-so-perfect details, which is natural for any speaker, but they have a wonderful tweeter with detail, exceptional mid-range, excellent behavior of the woofer up to its limits, and a massive soundstage (it even wrote that with the speakers positioned away from the walls, it felt like being in a performance happening in front of you, with sound coming from everywhere far beyond the speakers, as if the wall had opened up and transformed into a stage - I don't have the luxury to understand this because neither is my listening space good nor can I move them far enough from the walls). Another review mentioned a deliberate small roll-off in the upper treble frequencies (which helps with harsher sound sources) but overall, all areas of the sound are excellent, the speakers are capable of playing any genre of music, and if we notice that something is not going as well as it should, it is good to look at the source of the sound and not at the speakers, meaning they are so good that they can reveal some issues with accompanying equipment, so... good accompanying equipment and good cables are needed to showcase their exceptional sound. In this review, it was even written that they can play at party levels.
Also, one thing that impressed me is the wonderful bass considering not only the small size of the speaker but especially the small size of the woofer.
In conclusion, they are very musical (which is important to me), with a large soundstage, full, lively, and coherent sound, and exceptional for their price.
In the end, they are musical speakers, bright, with color in the sound, not claustrophobic but they open up a wide window to the sound and make you listen to music instead of searching for hi-fi details. They have a sound that shows some "class" and superiority, meaning something special, beyond the ordinary.
Those who appreciate the mid-range and open sound should try to listen to them.
Anyway, I remain stuck with the dali spektor 2, and if there is a reason for me to tell you not to buy them, it is the unacceptable increase in their price, almost 300 euros, from a maximum of 235 in the past (and many times 215 but also below 180 in offers, i.e. the price I bought them - deal of the century at that price), which I consider a mockery and theft and should be punished.
At some point, I will return to the spector 2, but I want to enjoy the kef first and then listen to them and the spector alternately, I won't put either of them aside, these two suit me and I can't dismantle either. And I don't want to get into the process of saying which one is better in my opinion (although I think the spektor are more three-dimensional and have unparalleled emotion). Anyway, they are in very different price categories and should not be compared. Both have their charm.
As for the kef again, I had forgotten about them for so many years, but when I saw them for only 260 euros (used, of course), what else could I do? And I did very well, especially at the price I got them... it's a steal.
Now, what will I do with all these speakers I have collected, that's another issue.

Excellent sound for its size. I have placed it in a small space of 12 square meters. Replaced the Dali Zensor and the difference in quality was very significant.

I highly recommend it.
