This sunscreen contains the patented Avene Triasorb filter, which covers a range of UVA rays that no other filter has been able to cover until now (there is a relevant study on the internet, funded by Avene). This filter is a chemical filter, but behaves like a mineral one: it is not absorbed by the skin (it remains on the surface), it absorbs some of the rays but mainly reflects them (explaining the above shine compared to others). This filter is a yellow powder and in order not to color the skin yellow, they have added a little red color so that the shade is nude and invisible on the skin. However, it stains clothes, especially white cotton ones, which should be avoided, although with repeated washing they eventually become clean. Synthetic colored items (e.g. swimsuits) are easily cleaned with washing. It should be noted here that in general, UVA filters are yellow (classic avobenzone, the new Mexoryl400 from LRP) and stain.
In terms of texture, it is very moisturizing, but very pleasant, even in water you can feel it, which means that it is very water resistant, truly odorless, and very safe for the eyes (does not irritate at all).
It uses only 4 filters, limiting the chemical filters to the minimum possible. These filters are new generation and are considered very safe so far. That's why it is recommended for children as well.
I have very fair and sensitive skin. We used (as a family) 3 packages this year and the skin looked like it hadn't seen the sun. When it ran out, I used the equivalent 50+ from LRP. The result was that I became slightly pink as if I had just taken my first swim! The conclusion is that Avene had more effective filters than LRP.
In conclusion, I can say that it lives up to its name: intense protection. The downside is that it stains clothes, but if you are interested in maximum possible and safe sun protection, its disadvantage is minor.
As a person with oily skin, it doesn't serve me at all. Although I don't feel it heavy, it shines a lot and doesn't absorb at all, no matter how much time passes. It also tends to gather and appear white in fine lines and facial hair. Finally, the worst of all is that it stains anything it touches. If I put it on my neck, it will yellow my shirt, if I put it on my hands, even if I blow my nose, I will see the sunscreen on the tissue. I give it 2 stars because it offers good protection and didn't cause breakouts, but I definitely won't buy it again.
I bought it last summer. I have rosacea on my face. I work in the cold and I have skin irritations. I use it in the morning before going to work and by noon my skin is moisturized.
I have melasma on my face and with this specific sunscreen, I didn't get any new spots. I would reapply the sunscreen every two hours.
It has a nice texture, a nude shade, and it absorbs quickly. It doesn't sting the eyes like other sunscreens.
The company claims that it is fluid, however, it does not absorb anything and you end up melting on top of it due to sweating, making you shine like a fish and leaving you essentially unprotected from the sun. It does not absorb easily, it is very heavy, I would not recommend it for the face. It has a sticky feeling that saddens you and makes you not want to use it, which in itself is a red flag for a sunscreen. The worst part is that it has a useless color (yellow), which leaves stains on all clothes/swimsuits/towels and generally on any surface it comes into contact with (even the seats of our car turned yellow). For this reason, it cannot be used even as a body lotion, in case someone is not satisfied with its texture. Money wasted. It's a shame, because I had a high opinion of Avene as a company. It has disappointed me in sunscreens, both for the body and the face. Never again Avene.
It is a good sunscreen but it leaves color on clothes. I bought it for my daughter and it has stained all her onesies.
It is the second summer that I prefer it and I have tried several. Since the baby was 7 months old, I have been using it until now that he is 2 years old, it is the sunscreen that I prefer. It spreads easily. Okay, it leaves some greasiness but it is logical! The smell is somewhat nonexistent and does not bother. The baby never got burned, nor did we!! I haven't used any other sunscreen for three years! This one respects my eyes and is incredibly moisturizing, like an expensive cream! Unbelievable product, I also got it for my 20-month-old grandson who is fair-haired and fair-skinned! Avene is simply synonymous with quality!
I found it to be a wonderful sunscreen for my body, not for my face. It is gentle, spreads easily with a nice rich texture, has a discreet shade that blends with my skin, absorbs immediately, and does not stain my clothes. But most importantly, I chose it for its effectiveness in providing sun protection. And of course, I recommend it.
It is a good sunscreen, but it leaves yellowish marks everywhere, making you shine like you're from Mars, and it takes a long time to absorb. It also leaves an extra greasiness after a while, so oily skin types may not tolerate it easily or at all, I would say. As for acne, which I also tend to have, it's probably relatively okay, but I'm not entirely sure because I occasionally get pimples anyway, and I don't think the sunscreen contributes to that. Another issue is that, in combination with prolonged mask use and the greasiness of this particular sunscreen, I believe it caused a small dermatitis problem from contact near the nose and next to the mouth. Overall, the sunscreen is so-so, perhaps more suitable for the beach, but still with reservations.
Well, I have mixed feelings about this sunscreen. Well, I have bought about 6 bottles since summer and of course I would buy it again. It is a very effective sunscreen with a high protection factor and the new Avene filter. Whoever wears it is in good hands. But, it is heavy, especially if you are somewhere humid like a kitchen or in the summer. It also leaves a white cast because the filter is opaque. And unfortunately, it feels like wearing oil (also because of the filter) if you apply the normal amount. Even my dermatologist didn't like it, what can I say... she's right, but I can tolerate it. It's worth a try, you won't lose anything!
I used it myself, as well as my child who has sensitive skin. It didn't bother us at all, it's a very good sunscreen for sensitive skin. It leaves a slightly greasy texture on the skin, but it absorbs satisfactorily as time passes. I don't know how much it protects in strong sun because we used it during winter. I will definitely buy it again.
Very good sunscreen that protects quite well. It has no scent and spreads easily. Also, since I generally have sensitive skin and issues with dermatitis and allergies that have been caused by other sunscreens and face creams, it is very important for me that it did not cause me any problems.
I don't know if I got a defective product or not. I bought this specific sunscreen because, as stated, it is intended for sensitive skin and is fragrance-free (I should note that I was dealing with a dermatitis issue at that time). However, every time I applied it and went out in the sun, it caused a burning and stinging sensation in the areas where I had dermatitis. At first, I thought it might be due to the fact that I was also using a cortisone cream at that time and my skin was generally more sensitive. However, when I went on vacation and used a regular sunscreen from a supermarket, I had no problem with a burning sensation. When I tried to switch back to Avene, I immediately felt the same stinging sensation as soon as I applied it to my skin. In the end, I preferred to wash it off and not take the risk.
I really don't know what went wrong. On the positive side, it is fragrance-free, which made me choose it from the beginning and use it as a daily sunscreen. As for protection, I consider it to provide protection, as it is a sunscreen, but personally, I don't get sunburned, so I don't have an opinion on that. On the negative side, I dislike its sticky texture and the fact that it doesn't absorb easily, and of course, the reaction it caused on my skin. Personally, I will not choose it again.
Overall, all of Avene's sunscreens, despite being excellent (with new technology filters), leave a white cast. This sunscreen does not leave a white cast and also does not sting the eyes at all. It is moisturizing/oily (reminds me of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Hydrating Cream in terms of oiliness), but personally, the feeling does not bother me because I usually apply makeup or tinted moisturizer. I recommend it.
Finally, a sunscreen without fragrance!!! It doesn't smell like anything! Fantastic.
Personally, I have normal skin and I had no issues with oiliness, I highly recommend it.
Now, for oily skin, maybe the version specifically for the face is better. Give it a try, especially if you have issues with the scents of sunscreens.
