The texts of this collective volume highlight and analyze the structural problems that the Greek state is called upon to address in order to implement European educational policy.

They also reflect the transition from previous (national) regulatory behavior standards and/or values to newer ones that seem to align with the European perspective.

The volume is divided into two distinct but closely interdependent parts.

The first part includes five texts that analyze theoretical and empirical issues related to the organization and management of school units and the implications of various policies within the broader socio-economic framework in which education is embedded.

In the second part, emphasis is mainly placed on the role of the director and its importance for the functioning of the 'effective' school, as perceived each time.
