The book was first published in the late 1970s and its author was sentenced in 1980 to 10 months in prison for "offending religion".
In essence, however, and despite the judicial decision, "The Contradictions of the New Testament" is an excellent study of the Christological issue, seen from an atheistic-Marxist perspective based on a rich bibliography.
The multitude of contradictions in the New Testament indicates that the evangelical texts were written to serve specific religious-political purposes and their "sanctification" is simply a pretext for preserving the class and economic privileges of the clergy.
Thus, the unjust conviction of Thomas Mara was an honor for the author and a disgrace for his persecutors...
