Consciousness is a central theme in Bert Hellinger's work, systemic representation. There are different types of consciousness that serve different purposes. With our personal consciousness, we seek to belong, to be dedicated to our family, to be able to survive in this way. With this consciousness of innocence and guilt, we are both participants and expressions of the collective consciousness of the family, when we unconsciously sacrifice our power for the sake of the cohesion and security of all family members. If other members of our family have suffered, we are not free to be well and happy until their consciousness of belonging is fully restored.

In the end, the solutions are found in systemic consciousness, which we all share as humans, all equally, in the care of the Great Soul from which we come and to which we return, there all equally.
