This book aims to help athletes and fitness enthusiasts, coaches, and generally people who are involved, or want to get involved, in endurance training for long distances. The way it is written is relatively simple, to be accessible to the general public. Additionally, greater emphasis has been placed on practical application instructions rather than theoretical analyses, because I believe that this is where similar manuals fall short. (It is a fact that there are many books in Greek and foreign literature regarding the theory of athletic training, as well as exercise physiology). Where deemed appropriate, there are brief references and explanations to make the practical application understandable. In this manual, events considered long-distance endurance are all events from 3000 meters and above, up to the Marathon, including the 50 and 100-kilometer races. A small reference will also be made to middle-distance events, 800 and 1500 meters, because although they are classified as middle distances, the aerobic energy production mechanism also plays a crucial role in them. Finally, with the significant increase in mass sports in recent years in our country, it is deemed necessary to differentiate training between athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Only through this differentiation is it possible to structure individualized programs as well as select the appropriate training methods, based on the level of physical fitness.

    One of the worst books I have ever read. Poorly written with spelling mistakes and copy-paste information. Definitely not for beginners and definitely not helpful at all. It belongs in the trash where it deserves to be. You can find much better books in foreign literature.

    An excellent book is the best thing available in Greek, informative and comprehensive with very accurate information about running for both amateur and professional runners.
    In addition to the ready-made programs, all the information needed for a runner to create their own program based on their own needs is provided.
    Finally, the ready-made programs at the end of the book with the paces of each training session, I don't think exist in any other book in Greek literature.

    I bought it as a new runner after completing my first marathon. I really devoured it like water in an afternoon and then I started taking notes. Very well-written, very good guide for new runners but also more advanced, explanations for all types of training and many training samples depending on the reader's athleticism that really provoke incredible interest to try them! It's worth every last cent.

    As an amateur runner (from 5K to Marathon), I highly recommend this book as the number one choice for every amateur runner, regardless of their level. It will help them either to follow a ready-made program (for all levels and distances) or to easily and practically understand the basic principles of the training they are doing, so that they can perceive the usefulness of each type of training. It is "digestible" by combining practical application with theoretical background, just enough so that it does not become tiresome.
