I see nations pushing each other, hitting each other, and killing each other without saying anything, without knowing anything, with madness, obedience, and innocence."

Description

"I am young. I am twenty years old. But from life, I have known only despair, this agony, death, and the most frivolous, the most absurd chaining of life to an abyss of pain. I see nations pushing each other, hitting each other, and killing each other without saying anything, without knowing anything, with madness, obedience, and innocence."

This is the legacy of the young soldier Paul Bäumer, who, along with a group of his classmates, found himself from the school benches to the trenches, on the front line. During World War I, they will experience the horror of death and the harsh reality of battle, the shattering of their expectations, and betrayal. However, the young soldiers of the German Iron Youth stand their ground, obey orders, kill to survive, ready to sacrifice their lives in a war they do not understand.

The novel "All Quiet on the Western Front" was published in 1929 and was characterized as the most thrilling literary work about World War I. It was translated into 45 languages, sold millions of copies, and was adapted into a film twice.
