Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most widespread behavioral disorders of childhood, and mental health and education professionals are increasingly facing the challenge of assessing children and adolescents with this disorder. The ADHD-IV Rating Scale is a valuable tool for the timely and accurate identification of the disorder, as it can be easily used by individuals in the child's immediate environment (teachers and parents). It allows the identification of children who are likely to exhibit the disorder, so that they can be referred to appropriate school psychological services or medical-pedagogical centers for clinical evaluation and diagnosis. The original scale was created in the USA, while the necessity of having a similar standardized tool in our country led to its standardization by the authors of this manual.

This manual presents the two forms of the ADHD Rating Scale (for parents and teachers) based on the diagnostic criteria of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as defined in the fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). It includes information on the construction and standardization of the scales in the Greek population, normative data, factor structure, psychometric properties (validity and reliability), as well as how this material can be utilized in clinical and school settings. The manual is accompanied by a number of response booklets of the ADHD Rating Scale, which can be used by parents and teachers.
