Violence in the school environment is a topic of great concern in international literature, as incidents of violence in schools, affecting both children and adults, seem to be increasing in recent years. One specific form of violence that occurs in schools is bullying, a phenomenon that was initially studied in Scandinavian countries by Dan Olweus in the 1970s.
