The third volume of the history of Local Government in Kea includes the achievements of the Kea Community. From 1951, when the first elections took place after the liberation from the German occupation, until 1976, when it was renamed as the Ioulida Kea Community. And from 1976 until 1996, when the two Communities of the island, Ioulida and Koresia, merged into one municipality after a voluntary merger. These 46 years (1951-1996) constitute a period of ups and downs for our island. There are hopeful years and pessimistic years. Efforts for progress and development, and periods of abandonment, years of rebirth and years of decline. With the final conclusion being the success of the efforts of Local Government for a new development path. In the selected decisions of the larger of the two Communities of the island, which are presented in this volume, the effort of the elected representatives to inspire the residents for the progress of the place is evident, but also the objective difficulties in achieving this goal. The closure of the EMAEG factory and the devaluation of the value of the oak tree resulted in the mass migration of residents to Athens, resulting in the economic and social decline of the island.
