Description

The book "The Man from Kerasovo. Memories and Oral History" records oral narratives of the men of the village concerning their personal experiences and memories as Men from Kerasovo, as emigrants, craftsmen, grooms, fathers, and those born from 1932 to 1967.

These data emerged after on-site research in Agia Paraskevi - Kerasovo Konitsis. It is the third book in a series and is a continuation of the previous two: The Kerasovitissa Mother and The Kerasovitissa Bride.

Dimitris Tsoumanos (b. 1941), a Kerasovitis, an emigrant for fifty-nine years in America, remembers "... I was eighteen and a half years old; on January 25th, I left the village, and when I said goodbye to all my relatives and the rest of the villagers in front of the church of Ayios Dimitrios, my grandmother Kyranou, with tears in her eyes, hugged me and kissed me and said, 'Goodbye, my golden one. I will never see you again. May you have my blessing!' My unforgettable mother Eleni, with tears and pain in her heart, gave me her blessing and told me not to forget to write letters and to be careful. She emphasized the respect I should have for my uncles Leonidas and Mino, my father's brothers who brought me to America, and never, ever forget my roots. Beautiful and wise words from a Kerasovitissa woman and mother who raised us with principles and with superior love."
