Historically, in Greek society, the percentage of real estate in Greece is quite high. A characteristic example is homeownership, which continues to be at high percentages, despite the decline from 77.2% to 73.9% during the 2010-2015 five-year period, from the beginning of the economic crisis until its peak, according to a previous Eurostat survey (5th/2018). Particularly, in the pre-crisis years, according to ELSTAT data and survey research, in 2005 the homeownership rate in Greece was 84.6%, significantly higher than the European average of 70%.

Furthermore, the statistical data for the year 2018 regarding the amounts attributed through ENFIA are revealing of the value of real estate in Greece, as they concerned 7.31 million individuals who were taxed on real estate worth 2.65 billion euros and 58.2 thousand legal entities that were taxed with amounts totaling 451 million euros.

Equally interesting are the statistical data resulting from the income tax declarations of natural persons for the tax year 2017, according to which the declared income from real estate amounted to 6.2 million euros, on which a tax of 4.24 million euros was levied, constituting the second largest source of income after income from employment and pensions. From the above, it is evident that real estate plays a prominent role in the structure of the Greek economy.
Based on the data from AADE for 2018, the ENFIA declarations include a total of 33.93 million rights, which are analyzed as 33.27 million rights for natural persons (17.92 million for properties and 15.35 million for plots) and 655 thousand rights for legal entities (467 thousand for properties and 188 thousand for plots).

They concern fields), as they were extracted through the application of the property inventory-E9.

The E9 form is the basic declaration through which the Real Estate Inventory is updated, in order to record property taxes (ENFIA, FAP, etc.), which according to recent changes in legislation (Law 4607/2019), is submitted until May 31 of the following year from the day of establishment, acquisition, and any other change. Additionally, in recent times there has been increased interest in the Cadastre, which is the complete recording of all properties and rights (registrable) on them throughout the country, with the aim of their protection and registration, which although it does not have the meaning of tax control, it concerns a multitude of accountants-tax consultants who address property owners for the completion of the recording.

Recently, the President of the Hellenic Cadastre announced that as of 22.4.2019, the Pre-Posting process has started for those who have real estate in the Municipality of Athens (700,000 owners). This is the preliminary notification of the beneficiaries, after the completion of the processing of the submitted declarations and the information collected in the context of the cadastral survey and before the Posting takes place.
The goal of the Pre-Posting is to inform the collected data, before the Posting, through the confirmation of their accuracy and the indication of any errors by the beneficiaries.

Through the website of the Cadastre (www.ktimatologio.gr) for two months, the beneficiaries, using their taxisnet security codes, have access to the information of their property rights, which they declared during the cadastral survey. In this way, the beneficiaries become aware, before the Posting, of the recording of their rights and the geographic representation of their properties.
