The novel describes Boris' efforts to conquer Margarita and successfully complete his mission in an atmosphere of black threat, irony, and humor. The hero emerges as a mysterious and controversial character, who, while behaving normally in everyday life, certain elements of his behavior break the cover of realistic truth and lead the reader to other levels, to other areas of reality.
