This work, most of which, the first seven (7) documents, were edited by my father and the last three by me after his death, is another contribution to the detection through written documents, of the way our village society functioned during the period of Turkish rule.
The importance of this work becomes even greater as all the preserved documents are from the period 1829-1896 AD, that is, a very old period when Epirus was suffocating under the ruler, the period when Hellenism fought in southern Greece and reaped the first fruits of freedom, the period when the active Epirote - Katsanos fought for his survival, sometimes traveling and sometimes devising ways of collective social behavior that boosted the morale of the people against the conqueror.
