Description

In the era of the Middle Ages, on a beautiful sunny island in the Mediterranean, two parallel stories unfold that mark the lives of the inhabitants. In a mountainous pasture, some shepherds find a wild creature, a girl with the appearance of a wolf who was apparently snatched by wolves when she was still a baby. The governor of the island entrusts her to the nuns of a monastery to raise her and help her reintegrate into the world of humans. Meanwhile, some fishermen rescue a shipwrecked man from the sea, a person with exceptional education and great knowledge, who, when asked by the governor about his religion, declares that he is an atheist. This declaration sends him to prison and subsequently to the Inquisition. And as the drama unfolds towards its suspenseful climax, it becomes clear that one of these two lives must be sacrificed. An exceptionally well-written book, with realism and vivid simplicity, where it becomes evident that the crucial issues of our time prove to be timeless. Good and evil, morality, love, and cruelty have always been points of reference in the conflicts between people.
