Behavioral economics is at the heart of public policy design. Policy designers leverage its reasoning to provide better services to citizens. Traditional types of tools (incentives, regulatory measures) are complemented by tools such as liberal nudges, choice architecture, and libertarian paternalism. Policy design based on behavioral economics avoids radical reforms that usually fail and attempts, respecting individual autonomy and will, to orient individuals' behavior towards achieving goals that benefit them.
This study leverages the findings of organizational behavior, cognitive science, political economy, decision-making, and psychology, proposing ways to provide services to citizens with quality and effectiveness.
