This one is entirely covered with stainless steel for easy cleaning. The fat collector is also made of stainless steel. The ridged plates on top and bottom are solid cast iron with enamel coating that doesn't scratch or peel like non-stick materials on household toasters. Compared to household ones, the plates take longer to heat up due to their thickness, but they also take a long time to cool down and provide uniform temperature distribution across the entire plate surface. The plates are not removable but are easily cleaned with a brush or cloth. The cooking surface is large, accommodating up to six toasts in two rows of three, or large steaks. The top and bottom resistances are heavy-duty and difficult to burn. The on-off switch is heavy-duty and rubber-coated to prevent moisture from getting inside. The thermostat is a precision professional type from E.G.O. Spare resistances, thermostat, and other components are available for purchase, but with the family use of the grill we do 2-3 times a day for toasting or grilling meat and fish, I don't think we'll need spare parts or repair for many years. The HEG-811E weighs around 18 kilos and is bulky, not recommended for small household kitchens with limited counter space
