The present volume includes twenty-six critical analysis texts (book reviews) on selected books and studies on contemporary foreign literature of political economy, which developed in the aftermath of the global financial crisis.

The structure of the book and the classification of the book reviews aim at providing general information and facilitating the reader's access to the main thematic fields of contemporary political economy. The first part of the volume ("Money and Economy") analyzes a) the failure of the prevailing neoclassical economic theory, b) evaluates the reform policy in relation to the financial system, and c) examines the consequences of implementing the economic doctrine of "expansionary austerity".

The themes in the second part of the volume ("Society and Politics") include book reviews on a) the evolution of inequalities and tax policy, b) the consequences of the economic crisis on the functioning of welfare states and their prospects in light of the new data emerging from technological changes. It also analyzes c) the phenomenon of populism both at a global level and within the framework of the European crisis, as well as d) the state of contemporary economic globalization, along with the evolution of its institutional framework.
