I bought it in 2019 and I don't use it.
Every time I write to a file, it is slow to start.
The file transfer speed resembles a hard drive from the 1980s.
I only used it to store files and never use them.
One of the worst purchases I have made for a hard drive
I bought this hard drive in 2019, so it has been in my possession for 5 years now. The capacity of 8 TB is very good, after all, that was the reason I bought it.
Its biggest downside is the speed of both reading and writing; it is really very slow... Tested on both Mac and Windows, the average reading speed is 35-38 MB/sec, and writing speed is 27-30 MB/sec. Perhaps if someone gets it purely for storage, it will do its job just fine, but if you want it for continuous use, you will get very tired.
In terms of reliability, it has been good for me; it has never presented any issues. It works with an external power supply, so you will always be dependent on a socket.
Personally, I would not buy it again, purely because of its low speed.
Argos is very slow, very... wasted money... new from the Plaisio store, 40€ more than other stores, but I was in a hurry. It says it takes 24 hours for a 2.4TB transfer. If you open a folder with photos, it takes a long time to review the images... I will probably return it
It has an anti-slip film on the bottom so it doesn't fall because, although small in size, it has enough weight. Its construction is good. It requires power supply.
It transfers files quickly, although it took a long time to connect to the computer for the first time. Its downside is that when transferring files, it not only makes noise, but also vibrates.

It has accidentally taken two bumps from upright to sideways, but it is still functioning without any issues.
I have had it for about 4 years.
At first, everything was fine. Now, there are 7 damaged sectors on the disk.
It is very difficult to use. If you want to carry it somewhere, it must have a power outlet nearby. Also, it has fallen twice and both times I had operational issues.
I would not buy a hard drive that stands upright and requires a power supply again.

The disk was completely destroyed. Luckily, I had all the files backed up on two other disks. Due to architectural studies, this could have destroyed me.
It couldn't copy anything anymore, and in the program we used, it said it would take 2 years to copy only 200gb out of 3T.
I bought it on the 8th due to the previous good experience with WD products and the relative trust. However, it lacks the known quality of WD in terms of material quality.
To reduce production costs, they did not include a single light/LED to indicate whether it is working or not. Along the way, I realized how important the role of feedback is in the operation of the hard drive and I will not buy a hard drive again without a light or screen.
The USB cable is obviously cheap - it makes you think if you need a better one for faster transmission speed.
The power plug needs a strong push to fit well and power up: I worry about when it will malfunction...
I bought it and kept it because I found it at a cheap price - otherwise, I would return it.
Stopped working while copying a file of about 5gb. I have 7.5tb out of approximately 8tb full. Windows does not recognize it and says it needs to be formatted. The same goes for Mac. Chkdsk doesn't work either because it says it's RAW.
Update: Fortunately, the free version of DMDE finds the file structure and copies files. Those of you who encounter this problem should download this program. At least it's something, rather than not being able to copy the files. However, the disk remains unrecognized as it is. It has also displayed a cyclic data redundancy error.
Within the time period that I have had it since 2018, it has crashed twice and I had to recover data twice. Without dropping it or moving it from my desk, I simply used it for file backups and it stopped working twice. I don't think I will buy this specific disk again or one with such capacity. I would prefer another company (Toshiba) like the one I have (with half the TB) and they haven't presented any problems. I do not recommend it, guys, look into other companies, this specific company is not the only option...
It is quite durable. The only annoying thing is that every time you need to access my computer icon or my documents or any folder on the computer, you have to wait about 15 seconds for the disk to open and give you the Ok to start the process. For example, if you want to access my pictures, which are on the hard disk of the computer, you have to wait 15 seconds for the disk to open.
It is quite noisy and annoying, so I have put it in a booklet in the photo to avoid the disk on the desk and thus hear the vibration and sound it makes
I have had it connected to a Raspberry Pi 4 for a year and it functions as a Home NAS, it is excellent, considering that the pi 4 has 1Gbps Ethernet, the same as my PC, and I have them connected to a 1Gbps switch respectively. When I have to transfer something, for example, it takes a bit to wake up and it takes 2-3 seconds, but it is normal. Overall, it is a good disk and a good price considering you need 70 euros for 2TB.
Great capacity at a good price! Perfect for backing up personal videos and photos, as well as collecting movies and music. The only negative thing I find is that it's somewhat noisy.
Very slow, every time it starts working, it freezes and doesn't respond for a few seconds when I search in the folders.
Apart from that, very nice design, standing in a corner without the risk of falling and never working again, and well, it's one of the cheapest options for simple, endless storage space. In the future, I would prefer to switch to an SSD.
I have the 4TB as an external on Xbox One X. Clearly better and faster than the 2.5" drives and as reviews show, more reliable. Essentially, it is a 3.5" drive usually from the blue series, with a case and all that at the same if not better price than just the drive.
The case has neither a button nor a light. It turns on as soon as the computer/console opens by itself. The power is external and essentially it is a drive that you put and leave in one place. You don't move it as easily as the 2.5" drives that don't have external power.
However, due to reliability, speed, and a 3-year warranty combined with its price, it gets excellent marks.
If someone wants to connect it to a console/computer and leave it connected without ever dealing with switches, etc., it is the best choice. Fast, reliable, and at a good price compared to alternative options.
Transfer from usb3 is about 180mb/s, but a little noisy. It also goes into standby very quickly. I don't know if the setting changes in any way.
I bought it at the end of December 2019 for €160 just for the drive, which I put in a NAS, as it is much cheaper than a regular drive of the same capacity.
It's not very easy to open the box without breaking anything, unless you have the right tools, but it can be done.
The drive I got is the WD80EZAZ-11TDBA0, 5400RPM, 256MB cache, Made in Thailand.
It works fine in the NAS I put it in (D-Link DNS-320). However, there is an issue if someone wants to use it in a PC with a relatively new power supply. For more information, search for '3.3v pin'.
I initially connected it to a PC for testing and it wasn't recognized. I tried a simple solution that worked: instead of using a SATA power plug, I used a molex and a SATA adapter.
I don't have specific speed requirements, and besides, the NAS I have is not the fastest, so I don't have an opinion on that.
I also don't have a sense of the noise, as the NAS is in a location I rarely visit.
It's definitely worth the money, as it costs much less than a regular internal drive of the same capacity. When I bought it for €160, the equivalent WD Red 8TB internal drive was over €230!
Personally, I don't trust any other company except WD with my data and I continue to be satisfied with the two new 8TB hard drives that I bought.
First of all, you buy a disk whose corresponding internal is much more expensive, but it is equally high quality since it has a Helium disk inside (in the 8 & 10TB models). Of course, this means that it is also noisier than regular hard drives but much faster (150-200mb/s).
Its construction is very good, but the only thing that worries me about external drives is that they do not have many anti-vibration protections and they easily burn if the voltage in the network is not good (a common phenomenon in Greece) since there is no power supply in the middle to protect them. However, with a little caution and if you have protections in your socket or network, then you will not have any problems!
I highly recommend it!

Due to work, I have dozens of WD My Book without any problems at all! I consider it the most reliable solution. Until now, I had the 4TB ones and I would give them 5 stars. I bought the 8TB one for the first time and it seems to make a lot of noise compared to the 4TB ones. The noise is significant if the disk is on the desk, and for this reason, I don't give it 5 stars. All my computers are Macs and they operate silently, so it is particularly annoying when the disk makes so much noise while everything else is quiet.
I received it today and I am still loading it for the last 5 hours, so it is still a bit early to have an opinion on whether it is durable, but it is definitely from a reliable company, it is quiet and does not overheat.
Only time will tell the rest.
A pleasant surprise was that even though I partitioned it to NTFS (and not exFAT as it was formatted), and I expected that the WD application would be deleted and it would no longer be recognized, it automatically updated and recognized the 7 new partitions without complications.
The Seagate ones I had did not do this...
The temperature is a negative in a state of calm, it is 44 °C and when there is transfer it reaches 50 °C.
