A poor middle-aged intellectual, deeply embittered by the rejection of his social environment, meets the woman who could be the ideal partner of his life: a girl with rare intellectual virtues and unusual depth of soul, also traumatized by life, who lives essentially isolated with her old father. From the intersection of the fates of these beings, as well as others who live silently beside them in their tormented lives, a heartbreaking song emerges, sometimes of protest and sometimes of trust in life. An exceptionally contemporary work, both for its handling of the characters' psychology and for the deeper issues it raises, which represent the anxieties of the people of our time.
