Description

I have some friends, I don't see them often. They know every wound of mine, every pain of mine. They know the fears and dark thoughts of my mind, without me ever having spoken about them. They love life as I do. They know the significance of every moment.
When I meet them, I fit entirely in their embrace. Sometimes I think of them as angels with large and thick wings. Tall, very tall, like alien figures. After all, they have an inner height that reaches the sky!
Appointment for a mammogram. May 2012, Monday afternoon. As soon as I had the examination, the doctor called me in for an ultrasound. I saw the worry in his eyes, felt a tightness in my heart. Something is not right.
Today, sometimes I wonder what my cancer looked like. I would like to see it. Back then, it didn't occur to me to ask to see it. The only thing I thought was that on the left side, I have something that needs to be removed. If I could, I would have ripped it out with my own hands.
Seven years later, I am here. Strong and healthy as never before. And I want to share this with you. Because yes, breast cancer can be defeated, it can be a parenthesis, it can simply be another life lesson.
People should have the opportunity to grow old. They should have the opportunity of life, of difficulties, the time to recognize their mistakes and the time to give and receive forgiveness. To taste illnesses and difficulties, joys and happiness. They should have the opportunity in the reality called life.
