This text, also known as the "Perfect Word," was only saved in its Latin translation. The Greek text, the original, was saved until the 4th century AD. Today, only fragments are saved in Greek, in various authors. In the papyrus Mimaut, dating from 300 AD, the last prayer of the text has been preserved, which has been incorporated into texts of practical magic. In Lactantius, various fragments from sections 25, 26, 28, 41 are saved. In Cyril of Alexandria, fragments from section 29 are saved, in John the Lydian the complete sections 19 and 39 are saved, and in Stobaeus a fragment from section 27 is saved.
We do not know who made the translation into Latin. In any case, it is not word for word. A comparison with the Greek fragments that have been saved shows that the Latin translation, in some places expands and in others becomes rather concise.
