The seventeen authors of the volume, from the fields of sociology, philosophy, political science, psychology, education, theater, communication, and architecture, explore aspects of the private sphere that sporadic study efforts have not yet shaped into a coherent framework through which greater theoretical, research, and interdisciplinary convergences could be achieved. This volume seeks to contribute to filling this gap. It presents all the considerations concerning the contemporary and dialectical relationship between the private and public, seeks the terms and practices that contribute to the emergence of new ways of self-perception, explores the role of old and new media in rearranging private life in Greece, sheds light on the structural changes of modern Greek apartments and their symbolic or imaginary boundaries, etc. The volume is introduced by Giannis Voulgaris.
