Description
Young people growing up in Tashkent heard their parents' stories from the time of the Civil War and understood that something very bad happened in their country. The story of Eleni, Gianna's mother, is a true story that describes how she ended up in Tashkent from Epirus after her mandatory conscription into the Democratic Army. She was a 15-year-old girl when her adventure began and she could be killed at any moment, like thousands of Greek guerrillas and soldiers, brothers, cousins, fellow villagers, and friends.
Through the endless discussions of the Greek diaspora, former captains of ELAS and guerrillas of EDES, the new generation of refugees in Tashkent heard shocking true stories. The book uses handwritten testimonies and narratives of people, fragments of true history, who lived during the Occupation-Civil War.
Behind every little story of these anonymous and famous patriots, there are real human existences, real historical events with dates, locations, and names of those who survived with visible and invisible wounds and found themselves living in exile.
This novel seeks to preserve the memory of those who experienced the shocking events of the Occupation and especially the Civil War.
