This book constitutes the Third Series of the written work with the general title "All and Everything" by G.I. Gurdjieff. The author began it in November 1934 and, in an inexplicable manner, stopped five months later, leaving a preliminary draft. Nevertheless, the text, as it is, served Gurdjieff's purpose as a Teacher in the 1930s and 1940s. The first chapter is mainly autobiographical, with material very important for understanding the nature and intensity of the required personal effort for multifaceted work on oneself. It is followed by a series of lectures that Gurdjieff gave to his New York group. Although notes on the work of this group have been published by some students, here we find one of the few published records where Gurdjieff himself offers guidance to his "community of seekers." The last part of the book, which remained unfinished, is a small essay on the subject: "The Outer and Inner World of Man."
