The drought had been going on for ten million years. The kingdom of the fearsome reptiles had long since expired. Here, in the Equator, on the continent that would one day be called Africa, the struggle for survival has reached its highest intensity of barbarism.
However, the winner is still unknown. In this barren and desolate land, only the smallest and fastest or the strongest can multiply and hope to survive. However, the desert apes possessed none of these qualities. They did not multiply. In fact, they were in danger of disappearing.
