It made noise in a short period of time with little use around 5 months. Sometimes it starts on its own while sitting in its drawer. Now it doesn't start at all. I have had a silvercrest from Lidl for 6 years and after 5 years it ran out of battery, I decided to replace it with a more quality and branded one...... the quality relationship between them is huge, I will not buy a Philips trimmer again after this. Maybe it was just a defective piece, I don't know, I even contacted customer service. I live in the countryside and the whole process of transportation and cost is exhausting and often without results (it's all due to usage) which I have faced a few times with other devices. As a result, I left it on the shelf and prepared it for the recycling bin!
I bought this to replace an ancient hair clipper that I had for over 20 years. I already used it for the first time for a haircut and face grooming. The way I used it (and will always use it) is on the shortest possible setting, meaning without any plastic attachment in front. This cuts at 0.5mm. So I quickly cut my hair and also my beard (I look unshaven after 1-2 days) without it getting stuck anywhere. In almost no spot did I need to go over it a second time. I was therefore absolutely satisfied with both the performance and the speed. I used it with the cord connected and only removed it for a few moments. Cleaning the head was very easy with the brush that came in the package. It is 100% worth buying, especially if it lasts over time (we'll see)
I use it for my mustache, favorites but rarely for shaving. It is EXCELLENT. Easy to use, efficient battery and fast charging (fortunately we moved away from the older ones that even though they were equally quality, they required 10 hours of charging for 1 hour of use while now it's the opposite!).
So yes, with closed eyes - a confident and effective purchase with the Philips guarantee that makes such machines, I don't even know how many years!
It has very few cutting lengths. The 1st and 2nd are basically for trimming mustache. For hair, there is only the 3rd length. Unless you want to cut with the "fine" one...
If you want to have a very short haircut, do not buy it! It doesn't have 1-2mm, it goes straight to 3. I regret buying it..
Difficult to use, few and very delicate to fake spare parts that you are afraid will break. For cleaning around without an attachment, it doesn't clean well no matter how many times I passed it. I have been cutting hair for 20 years and I have never seen this in a machine before.
I had the 3000 with a variety of spare parts, it is supposed to be inferior but because it fell and didn't work well, I decided to upgrade. I was very disappointed and unfortunately we will not use it again.
The only thing I have to say about this specific machine is that while trying to simply trim my hair, the blade came off and from then on the whole machine started malfunctioning, getting stuck in hair and not having the same cutting power. It's not worth the money, I have found a better branded machine for less money that works much better.
I had a similar model from the previous series, which eventually ran out of battery (it was not lithium). I switched to a professional Panasonic, whose performance is incomparable. The reason I also got this one is because it has a comb larger than 15mm (up to 28mm) and a more practical length adjustment mechanism. Its performance is satisfactory for household use, although, as I mentioned earlier, it cannot be compared to more expensive devices. With Panasonic, one pass is enough, while with Philips, in some areas, it may require two or three passes.
After years of struggle with another brand's hair clipper, which supposedly specializes in hair clippers and was also much more expensive, I decided to try one from Philips and got this one. For me, it's perfect! In all aspects, it is superior to the one I had before, as well as the previous one from another well-known brand. Practical, lightweight, economical, not noisy, with good battery life, good quality plastic that doesn't leave marks, nice case and accessories. Flawless!
Excellent choice. It trims the head, body, trims the beard, and also has a turbo function for those with intense hair growth that doesn't clog. The heads can be adjusted according to the desired length. Without a head, it shaves and reveals 1-2 days' worth of beard growth. Lastly, it can be safely washed with water (always turned off)
Excellent choice!!! I recently bought it for my husband to replace another smaller Philips trimmer that had started to pinch after two years of use. He uses it for both hair and beard. The difference between the two models is evident. It trims and shaves in minimal time. I highly recommend it
It is the best purchase I made in a hair clipper! Easy to use with excellent results! Quick hair cutting, it doesn't get clogged! I got a haircut in three minutes! It's worth its money!
I got it as a gift for my father, so he wouldn't keep using mine every now and then.
Not only is he satisfied with the machine, but he also learned to cut his few remaining hairs by himself.
Amazing battery life
I have a PHILIPS hair clipper without a battery for over 15 years, with which we have been cutting our family's hair for many years with great results. I always wanted to switch to something portable, but I had reservations because I was afraid that whatever I got wouldn't perform as well as the "old" one I already had. My wife took the bold step and got me this specific machine, and I have been incredibly satisfied. Waterproof, relatively quiet, and compared to its predecessor, it doesn't get stuck or jam anywhere, ever. And if someone wants more, it also has a turbo button that gives it even more power, plenty of attachments for all grooming preferences, a beautiful and practical case, and a battery that charges in an hour from zero to full and lasts for 90 minutes of normal use, which is enough for several haircuts. Usually, after two haircuts, I put it on charge, and in 10 minutes, it's ready. A fantastic choice for its price, which was around €37 with free shipping due to SKROUTZ+.
Great value for money. I use it as a shaver. It doesn't give you a close shave like a razor, but I don't think electric shavers can do that anyway. It can also be used for trimming or for the body, and it cleans easily.
I use it at an amateur level. For my case, the machine offers plenty of settings, is powerful, and doesn't get clogged with hair. It cleans relatively easily under the tap, in combination with the small brush included in the package. However, be careful not to use it on sensitive areas where the skin is softer, as it cuts very easily.
EDIT: After quite some time of use, the machine started to shut off 1-2 seconds after turning it on. It doesn't do it every time, but for the €35 it was purchased for, I consider it a worthwhile purchase
Really good machine. Makes shaving a game. Lightweight and with a good grip, easy to handle.
Powerful, never gets stuck due to its design. Of course, to avoid getting stuck, it has a large opening and throws the hairs everywhere (fills the whole bathroom), but it's worth it. Then you rinse it under the faucet.
It has a fixed small comb of 1 cm and two adjustable ones of 3-15 and 16-28 cm. You change the settings with the rotating wheel.
After 1-2 years of use (once a week), while I was shaving and without any warning, it simply stopped working and cannot be fixed. I don't know if I am unlucky or if it has happened to others, but it has definitely justified its cost.
On the positive side, it is powerful with or without a cord and has a turbo option. It is easy to maintain and user-friendly due to the adjustable length settings with the limited cutting guides it has. On the other hand, it is a major disadvantage for someone who wants short hair/shaving to go from 0.5 millimeters directly to 2 and then to 3 with a one-millimeter gap each time. If I had noticed this from the beginning, I would not have preferred it. However, for others, it may be a good choice for the price.
For me, it's so-so.
It's not better than an old Panasonic that I have.
It does have a more modern motor, fast and good battery, but what I don't like at all is that it doesn't have 1-1.5-2 mm etc. for beards, it goes straight from 0.5 to 3 and that's a big and unjustifiable flaw. And unlike the Panasonic, it fills the sink with a lot of hair all around, as if a helicopter was passing by during shaving.
I am 100% satisfied. I use it for shaving. It may have fewer attachments, but for me, it is enough.
I finish shaving very quickly. Of course, it throws hairs at a distance, but it is very powerful and it happens justifiably.
It also works with the cord plugged into the socket.
I highly recommend it.
I received an excellent shaving and trimming machine. I don't use it, nor do I intend to, for shaving. Only for trimming or shaving.
It came with a completely empty battery, which is not so positive (lithium batteries should be at around 50% when unused), but let's move on...
It charged enough in 15 minutes for me to trim my beard. I chose the shortest attachment, the black one, and it really did an incredible job in 3-4 minutes. It looks like a 3-day beard.
The plastic construction is of good quality though. I'm glad I didn't spend more money on the more expensive models. Personally, I find it to be a perfect machine!
When I shave without the attachment, directly with the metal surface, I will come back with new comments about the battery life.
Buy it without hesitation!

Since the first charge I have done, I haven't needed to recharge it again and I have done over 20 trims (with the black comb). Without the comb, it cuts quite deep, leaving some natural beard, it's not a shaver, and it requires some attention in certain areas to avoid cuts (e.g. between the nose and lips).
Powerful motor, easy cutting, quick cleaning under the faucet as it is waterproof and fast charging. No comparison to the series 3000 I had before! It is ideal for trimming, but it could be better for shaving. The case is also very convenient.
The 5000 BT5205/85 that I had was much better in everything. For trimming, this one is good too. But for shaving, no. The battery is very good and the noise is low. I regret this purchase because of the shaving, it has no comparison to the one I had before, and the build quality is not good. Especially the cutting selector, it is very loose. I am comparing it, of course, to the previous one.
The machine is incredible, it never gets clogged because it cuts the hair very quickly and in case it does get clogged (which is very rare), it has the Turbo option which helps a lot. I use it everywhere on my body, for trimming and shaving, and it is fantastic. It does its job well and it offers many options for trimming and shaving with the attachments it provides. Its battery life is satisfactory, and the Turbo option and length selection for cutting the hair are very useful if you want to trim a specific part of your body. In short, I highly recommend it.
