Death is undoubtedly the most catalytic event for human life. Its presence always filled the human soul with fear and brought his thoughts to confusion and deadlock.

No other event causes and is accompanied by such intense unpleasant feelings.

Despite the fact that it is an undeniable and inevitable reality in our lives, a tragic consequence of our separation from the living and true God, with the death and Resurrection of our Lord, death has been conquered. It lost its power and repulsiveness. It becomes, according to St. Basil, a "cause of life", a bridge through which we pass from the temporary to the eternal, and from the corruptible to the incorruptible. The light of the Resurrection of Christ dissolves the darkness of death. And the hope of the common resurrection and eternal life transforms death into sleep.
