The lens was purchased on 6-5-2021. It is one of the best lenses in its category. I use it on a Nikon D3500. Its construction is quality. The fact that it is a completely manual lens is not necessarily a bad thing. I can say that within a few days I got used to it and I can focus relatively easily, however, I would prefer if it had stabilization system. In terms of image quality, it is extremely good, as well as color rendering. I believe it is value for money because for other equivalent lenses you pay much more, and what I believe makes it unbeatable is that it offers you the possibility of 2x macro. One negative aspect is that the packaging does not include a case for the lens. In conclusion, I recommend this lens for those who want to delve into the magical world of macro.
First of all, the review is for this specific lens with a Nikon Z mount. I use it on a Z6. Although the lens does not provide AF capability, it will reward you with its excellent build quality (you will notice it as soon as you hold the lens in your hands), good contrast, and vibrant colors it produces. Since it is a manual lens, you will need to set the NON-CPU-Data to correctly determine the focal length.
So far, I haven't noticed any significant color fringing. It is quite sharp, especially from f5.6 to f16, razor-sharp.
The lens does not have stabilization, but it is not something I miss since I always use a tripod for macro shots, and my camera has IBIS. The focus ring gives a really good feel and handling.
At 2:1 magnification, you may need some practice (at least I have noticed that I sometimes face difficulties with focusing).
I purchased it from a well-known store in Germany, as the price difference with Greek stores (which, by the way, had it on back order) was around €80.
I should note here that the lens comes with a transparent plastic pouch that may protect it from dust and minor scratches. Personally, I replaced it immediately with a lens pouch with padding.
Overall, it is a very good purchase, it has left me completely satisfied, and for this reason, I recommend it.
