Description

The Holy Mary of Egypt is an outstanding ascetic figure in the Orthodox Church, but also the highest example of repentance to be imitated. After living a free, unrestrained, and passionate life, touching the gates of spiritual death, after a significant incident that happened to her, she repents and seeking God's mercy, she withdraws into the depths of the desert, trying, if possible, with her tears, to cover the entire desert that hosts her.
Completely away from the echo of the world's vanity and at the same time with God who watches her bleeding heart, she lived superhumanly and acquired an angelic nature.
She walked on water, cliffs, rivers, without falling or sinking.
God, the merciful and forgiving, forgave her and rewarded her with gifts beyond human measure. However, she, humble until the day of her death, continues her ascetic struggle of repentance and prayer to the point that even wild beasts submit before her.
