Description
In "The Farthest Shore," the third book in the Earthsea cycle, a shadow has spread over the islands of the Archipelago, and the balance of the world has been dangerously disturbed. Suspicion and hostility prevail among people, trade and the arts are in decline, and, worst of all, faith in magic has been shaken as spells of centuries seem to have lost their power.
The young Arren, son of the prince of Enlad and his heir, arrives on the island of Roke to inform the Council of Masters, the greatest wizards of the archipelago, of the danger that is not yet felt there.
And then the Archmage Ged takes it upon himself to find the root of the evil, with his only companion being the young Arren. The two heroes embark on their odyssey, which will take them to the farthest shore of Earthsea - and even beyond...
Earthsea is a world with countless islands, each with its own culture. It is said that the oldest and wisest creatures in the world, the dragons, dwell there. These island societies accept magic as an integral part of their lives, and everything has a secret name, which whoever knows it, has power over it.
The fantastical world of Earthsea has been compared to J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth and C.S. Lewis's Narnia. Its creator, the great Ursula K. Le Guin, wrote five novels and a series of short stories set on the islands of the archipelago, which are considered classic works of fantasy literature.
Aeolos Publications are reissuing the Earthsea books in Greek, with the addition of an epilogue by the author herself in each volume.
