It is said to be around 800 grit, but I managed to sharpen knives with 440 steel and aus-8 with ease and patience and make them razor-sharp. It is easy to transport and use. If someone else wants their knife to shave beards and hair, then they will need to equip themselves with something more, like a waterstone with a grit of 10000> or at least some leather.
