The agricultural sector is an extremely important part of the Greek economy, not only for its contribution to the country's development but also due to its significant role in employment and income, as well as its importance in the economy of certain regions of the country. The economic analysis of the problems of the agricultural sector is now an important part of academic teaching, not only in Agricultural Schools but also increasingly in the Economic Schools of Greek universities.

The literature on Greek agriculture by Greek scientists in Greek and international journals is rich and significant. On the contrary, the number of academic textbooks is limited, and the lack of a modern textbook that meets the current teaching needs of Agricultural Economics courses is evident.
