With the Choetech SC005, you can charge your devices anywhere. It features solar panels to gather energy wherever you are, with durability even against rain.
Additionally, it has 2 USB ports for simultaneous charging of your devices, and its weight does not exceed 1 kilogram, making it easy to carry.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
The best value-for-money solar charger I have. Of course, I had bought it last year, much cheaper. It does its job and in the summer, it easily charges the 20K mAh power bank throughout the day with sunlight.
Ideal for trekking and camping. Can easily charge 2 phones in sunny conditions. I suggest you invest in a long cable because you might need to place the panels somewhere where it is not safe enough to put your phone as well.
I am quite satisfied with the charger, however, I rate it with 4 stars for the following reasons:
-On the first day, I plugged in 2 mobile phones and over time I heard intermittent sounds of disconnections from the charging, like when you charge and suddenly unplug the charger from the socket. (I consider it reasonable for such sounds to occur when the panels are in the shade). However, the panels (which appear to be of good quality) were constantly under the hot sun of the Cyclades, stationary, and the charging cables were the genuine ones from the mobile phone companies.
- On the second day, everything went better. The sounds of disconnections almost stopped and the charging, since then, completes faster. Take into consideration, of course, that it does not charge at the speed of a power bank, but it does charge.
- Additionally, there is a pocket, which closes with velcro, inside which the hub of the 2 USB ports is located and where it is supposed that the 2 devices, along with their cables, should fit. I find the size of the pocket small, I would prefer it to be bigger, to comfortably accommodate 2 mobile phones with their cables (there are, of course, more expensive models with different dimensions).
I would also add thermal insulation material (foam) inside the fabric, to protect the devices from increased heat and so that users do not have to search for sun on one side for the panels and shade on the other to leave their phones until they charge, as in the summer the sun is burdensome for the condition of the devices. This padding can be added later by the buyer.
I believe that the fact that the charger is not a power bank, but provides the generated power directly, is positive for its lifespan. Of course, it also charges power banks, for the dark moments of life.
The SC005 has 3 panels to deliver the 22W.
This product has good construction and is not too big for carrying in a backpack, weighing approximately 800g. However, I believe that the 4 large panels are necessary in order to ensure a reliable and as fast as possible charging at 12W on the 2.4A output port (in blue) and 10.5W on the 2.1A output port. Please note that the 22W mentioned in the descriptions is the total power from both ports combined. In a test, it charged 2 devices simultaneously, sharing the power and naturally increasing the charging time. I tried this specific product directly under the sun to charge my Samsung A52 4G phone, which has a 4400mAh battery and fast charging capability. In less than 3 hours, it charged my phone from 23% to 100% with good sunlight and using the 2.4A output port. Note that it does not charge in cloudy conditions, as I read somewhere; it stops charging when the sun is hidden or even with weak sunlight. I doubt it can charge in winter sunlight. (I don't know if any other solar charger has a different type of collector that can charge even in cloudy conditions). I chose a solar charger without a built-in power bank because I don't know if I can replace the battery of the built-in one if it breaks, and the solar charger would be useless to me. I chose this independent solar charger so that I can charge as many power banks as I want and also directly charge my devices. Of course, by charging a power bank with 10000 to 12000mAh, we free the phone from the charger. I do not recommend charging a larger power bank so that the sun can fully charge it and not just half or less of its capacity. Finally, I think it is a good and honest choice that serves its purpose well. I hope I helped.
It is a converter, NOT A SOLAR COLLECTOR, which means it charges devices ONLY when there is sunlight. It even charges with cloudy weather (the surface does not need much cleaning, only if it has a big stain, etc.). It folds into a small size, like a women's handbag. Functional, practical, the company Choetech is simply a guarantee. I recommend it for travelers, otherwise for the beach and a good powerful 10-15,000 mAh solar collector is good. (good brands: Silicon Power, Sandberg, Xtorm, prices: 20-60 euros).
