"The Kerassovitsa Bride" explores the attitudes and experiences of women who were born between 1924 and 1982 in Kerassovos Konitsis as brides, as they themselves experienced and continue to experience them.
The composition of the elements resulted from Andromache Bouna's on-site research in Agia Paraskevi - Kerassovo and is a continuation of the book "The Kerassovitsa Mother". Her research was based on oral interviews with the women of the village and archival research and study of documents related to family transfers, such as dowry agreements.
Interesting aspects of the past - of marriage and the Bride - are thus revealed, which the author relates to the present, to the survival of the institution and the position of women in modern times.
"I eloped with my husband, and when I left, I wrote a letter to my mother, and she replied, 'My girl, you did well to take him, whether you have a good time or not, you have five sisters-in-law and one mother-in-law, six, and one aunt, seven troubles, I don't entertain complaints,' and so I never told her my complaints... Okay, everything happened very quickly because we had to leave for work... my mother was worried, she had sorrow... and my sister."
(V.K., 1943).
