The work of Guy (Michel) Sonié "Injustice. Evil and injustice in Greek folk song" is a classic in the genre of study, the first (French) edition of which was published in 1979 by the French Institute of Athens in collaboration with the Parisian publishing house Belles Lettres. Nikos Svoronos characterizes it in his preface as a "fundamental contribution to the study of the mentality of the Greek people and, in many ways, to the history of this mentality." A proficient speaker of the Greek language, the author spent long periods of time in Athens and researched a rich and complex material. According to Nikos Svoronos, the fruit of his research is "an original approach to folk song, as it constitutes the first step towards a comprehensive study of modern Greek culture, starting from where such a study should start: from oral literature, and especially from folk song, which reflects Greek thought in all its purity, untainted by foreign influences, as repeatedly demonstrated in this work. Furthermore, this work highlights the fundamental element of Greek popular ideology, the idea of justice, the absence of which is the essential characteristic of evil in all its manifestations: social, human, and transcendental."
