Have you ever noticed the cashier's hands at the supermarket where you shop? Do you know the name of the delivery person who often brings your order? Is the lady at the toll booths in love? How does the street cleaner endure the filth? What does a telephone operator think when their shift ends? Does a ticket seller get bored seeing the same show every night? Does a parking attendant on a ship have more stress than an ambulance driver? How much does a doorman learn in a large building? What does a court usher feel during an eviction? And what kind of life is this? Is there pain, lack, emptiness, despair, or just boredom, loneliness, and internal immobility? Is boredom common or becoming more unbearable? Can we endure the distance from others and the compulsion of repetition or not? And all these unnoticed people, how do they see us? What do they say about us? Surely much more than we do about them. We don't recognize them, we don't pay attention to them, we're not interested in hearing them. And maybe we're missing something. Because they know us well. Sometimes better than we know ourselves.
