I have had it for about a year. I also have the 1.8 version. I will compare it initially with the 1.8 and then with other 1.4 lenses from the g series (35mm, 85mm). The lens is used on a Nikon d850. The performance at 1.4 is a bit tragic. I never shoot at 1.4 because it has a lot of chromatic aberrations, heavy vignetting, and it's not sharp. It improves quite a bit at 2 and at 2.8 it is perfect! Compared to the 1.8, it has smoother and more beautiful colors that you find in premium Nikon lenses, and the depth of field blur is clearly more beautiful as well. What does it lack compared to the more expensive 1.4 lenses in the G series? The build quality is better than the 1.8 but not as good as the 35mm, 85mm. I'm referring to the focus ring, the focus switch, and the overall feel. The autofocus speed is not the same as the other 1.4 lenses, nor is the performance in low light at 1.4, or the sharpness at wide apertures. At around 500 euros, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want the small size (slightly larger than the 1.8) and the color. It's a little lens that can give you very nice results if you use it at narrower apertures. It has nice blur and colors, both of which are excellent parameters for a beautiful result. The AF is satisfactory (the 1.8 is faster and has a shorter throw). Overall, I am satisfied

Excellent lens which, on the D-500 with its equally excellent focusing system, delivers unique results! For cheaper bodies, it is better to choose the f 1.8 G where the colors have an even more dynamic representation. I have both the 1.4 and the 1.8 G lenses. Lenses that make you want to photograph by playing with your feet instead of the ease of zoom. The charm of prime lenses, when you learn anything else with them, seems "a little" to you. I have one attached to an FX body and the other to a DX.

I have been using this lens for about a week now and I have almost nothing to complain about. It could perhaps have a slightly faster autofocus, but since I mainly shoot still subjects, it doesn't bother me much. Excellent value for money, especially considering that it is a 1.4 lens.

The lens is excellent... Its sharpness at 1.4 is amazing, very good color representation. The autofocus is very mediocre, it could be much better, the only negative along with the plastic construction!!!

Very good with very high sharpness and far very good color quality. It highlights the virtues of a full frame to the fullest and I consider it necessary even if you have a zoom lens that covers these mm.

In relation to the 1.8, there is no difference in quality. In the 1.4, it is quite soft

It has enough acidity. But it's not as sharp as the Sigma 50mm lens.
