Description

The AT-VM95C is a "budget-friendly" cartridge that features a conical needle, with an improved and distinctive design resulting in a more rigid housing, and two threaded inserts in the cartridge body that allow it to be mounted on the Shell with just two screws, without nuts. Its compatibility will allow upgrading with any needle from the other 4 in the series, such as the Elliptical, the Elliptical Nude, the Microlinear, and the Shibata.

  • I bought it, like many others, as a second cheap cartridge. The purpose is to be used on mainly worn-out 45s of the old Greek pentagram, and not only that. It played with low noise, sweet sound, and overall the result is much better than what I expected. It gives the same result with regular records as well. There is no better value for the money. Highly recommended.

    Verified purchase

I had bought it from abroad for 35e as a backup for a vintage turntable and I decided to install it. The sound is sweet without surface noise, with deep bass, smooth midrange, and clear highs without any distortion. It is a comfortable listening experience for hours, and I think it is unmatched for its price of eighty euros. It is a reliable product from audiotechnica

I use the AT-VM95E at home, but due to my professional involvement in the service, many of our customers mainly purchase the AT-VM95C due to cost. The "Blue" ones...
Clearly, all the specifications and features that exist throughout the series apply here as well: Easy installation with simple movements, absolute compatibility with most tonearms, as well as most amplifiers available in the market.
Let's not forget that the "engine" of the AT-VM95C is the basis of the entire series, and all the styli of the AT-VMN95 series can be mounted on it, which means that the AT-VM95C is fully upgradable, while many users start with one and acquire a higher one for better records. The change is very easy.
The stylus on the AT-VM95C is conical, which means that it will perform exceptionally well on records that have some age compared to an elliptical...
Our customers report that they have achieved pleasant results with a nice body and overall a sweet sound, with the unique ability of the AT-VM95C series to have less surface noise compared to other manufacturers of the same or much higher price category.
Therefore, even in this price category, the AT-VM95C is unlikely to find a worthy competitor.
I consider it to be the most value for money product in the category, priced at just 40 euros.

I bought the Audio Technica VM95C about 6 months ago for around 40 euros in an attempt to buy something affordable for my turntable (Rega Planar 3). Coming from a more expensive cartridge (100 euros) of a well-known brand which got damaged, I didn't have high expectations due to the price. To my surprise, I found that this cheap cartridge was much better than the previous one, specifically:

Sound: It has a fuller sound with great depth, very good lows and transparent soft highs, overall more musical and emotional. In contrast to the old one, which was somewhat annoying in the mid and high frequencies and definitely narrower. It also has very little surface noise from the record, especially on older ones.

Mounting: It is easy to mount because it has built-in metal female threads and doesn't require screws.

Upgrade: I realized this after I had bought it. The cartridge body (which screws onto the tonearm) can accept all the VMN95 series styli, namely the elliptical VMN95E and VMN95EN, the microlinear VMN95ML, and the Shibata VMN95SH. This means you can upgrade the cartridge by just changing the stylus, reducing the cost and without needing to readjust the cartridge since all the styli have the same weight and geometry.

In conclusion, I got a cartridge to "do the job" and it turned out to be the most value-for-money purchase I have made. For the future, I am considering upgrading it with the ML or the Shibata stylus. I recommend it to everyone, there is no better solution for this price (be careful to have a safety clip). Audio Technica rocks!
