"The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money" led post-war to a plethora of publications and established a new theoretical school of economic thought that inevitably became known as Keynesian, with the study of short-term fluctuations and systemic instability of market economies. It also led to the creation of a distinct field of study of the problems of the economy as a whole, macroeconomic theory. The General Theory, although published in 1936, continues to be an important book, the study of which can help understand the problems of current economic policy at national and international level.
