The dream, which is sometimes a joyful prophet and sometimes a terrible nightmare, has been considered an event of great significance in the lives of people since ancient times. For all peoples, it was an inexplicable phenomenon, a cause for surprise, optimism, hope, mystery, turmoil, fear, a harbinger of pleasant or unpleasant incidents in human life, regarding the future. Perhaps that is why it is the oldest form of divination. There have been many interpreters of dreams throughout all ages. However, Artemidorus (2nd century AD) from Ephesus became famous. Since then, many others have been involved in the interpretation of dreams and have developed their own theories, such as Freud, Jung, Adler, and others, whose views are briefly presented in this work. In any case, regardless of the position taken by each researcher, Aristotle's assertion is undeniably true: "neither despise the prophetic nature of dreams nor believe in them."
